Rich in rejuvenating minerals, this geothermal mud from Rotorua has natural cleansing, antiseptic, healing and rebalancing properties. Major minerals present include silica, magnesium, calcium, titanium, iron, sulphur, phosphorus, sodium and potassium with trace elements such as copper, zinc, selenium, cobalt and manganese.
On drying, the mud will generate heat which increases the blood circulation and perspiration, helping to eliminate toxins and other wastes. It easily absorbs excess oils and fatty secretions from within the skin’s pores, detoxifies and purifies, and helps promote the regeneration of new cells.
Sulphur, while a very odorous mineral, is very beneficial and naturally occurring in Rotorua Mud as it acts as an antibacterial agent assisting in the prevention and elimination of acne.
Some further properties of Thermal Mud
Antiseptic: destroys pathogenic agents (a bacteria or virus that is capable of causing disease) without attacking adjacent healthy tissue.
Healing: Silica, Aluminium and Zinc are all essential to tissue regeneration, scar prevention and repairing.
Absorbing: drains off infections and absorbs excess fluids.
Sedative: has a sedative action on localised pain.
Remineralising: transmits necessary mineral salts to organism for biological equilibrium.
Rebalancing: provides sufficient mineral salts to enhance the body’s natural immune system.
Directions: Must be used on a clean skin. Apply evenly to the face avoiding the eye area and keeping clear of the hair line and mouth. Sit and relax for approximately 10 – 15 minutes while the face pack dries and draws out the impurities. It will start to feel tight and will gradually lighten in colour as it dries. When it is a mottled light and dark grey it is ready to remove. Do NOT allow it to dry to a complete light grey/white colour.
Spritz the skin with warm water to assist with the easy removal of the pack. Wash off with water or a soft wet towel.
Remember to moisturise following any face pack treatment.
For dry skin use once every 10 days. For normal skin use once per week. Oily skin can benefit from a face pack 2 times per week.
